Meet Our Foundation Partner

OEA gratefully acknowledges our Foundation Partner  — Wilderness Equipment — who became our Foundation partner in late 2015 and has continued to join us in consecutive two year partnerships to advance outdoor education in Australia.

OEA is an NFP that represents and supports thousands of practising outdoor educators, teachers and organisations across Australia. We do this through volunteer staff and a modest self-funding operating budget that is boosted by sponsorship of our biennial conference.

In recent years OEA has recognised we need to do more to:

  • expand and reinforce the importance of outdoor education
  • foster the outdoor education community in Australia
  • engage digitally with our members.

To that end, we have manage  this website, a Facebook page and other initiatives and have been fortunate to welcome onboard some fantastic like-minded partners who support us in our endeavours. It is with gratitude that we thank our Foundation Sponsor. Though this partnership arrangement Wilderness Equipment will be profiled on our website and Facebook page and at NOEC.

We encourage you to get behind Wilderness Equipment and their association with us.

Wilderness Equipment is very pleased to participate as a Foundation Partner with OEA in this exciting initiative. For sure we appreciate this opportunity to present our products directly to an important market segment, but we are also firm believers in the value of outdoor education.

As a small family company, begun in 1977, the outdoors has been our life. It remains the source of both the energy and inspiration needed to do what we do: to create and build products we not only have complete confidence in but which we are also proud to use for our own adventures. We understand the essential role outdoor education plays in helping all young people find their sense of place in this world.  We wish Outdoor Education Australia every success in its important mission to build the high profile and recognition that outdoor ed should have in Australian secondary education.  Ian Maley, Founder &  Henry Kelsey, Director.

Since 2018 Wilderness Equipment, as part of their support of Outdoor Education Australia, has provided the major prize for the Outdoor Education Awards in honour of the Outdoor Education Program of the year. (Pic of Henry presenting at NOEC 2022).
