Outdoor Learning and the Curriculum

A Professional Development Workshop for Educations.

This practical workshop will demonstrate how the Australian Curriculum cross-curriculum priority area of Sustainability can be addressed while taking learning outdoors. Outdoor learning using experience-based strategies supports children’s emotional well-being and physical health, increases engagement with learning, fosters ecological stewardship and positively impacts on environmental behaviours.

The workshop is run by Emma Brindal a Youth Education Coordinator at Northey Street City Farm, where she runs permaculture and sustainability activities and programs for children and adults. She is also the founder of WiseEarth Education and has been teaching and facilitating experiential learning and environmental education programs for over a decade. Emma has a degree in Environmental Science and is currently studying a Master of Education (Social Ecology).

Cost: $140 school-funded/waged | $90 student/unwaged (GST included) Includes morning tea. BYO lunch
